The Kharana Campus

The playable campus exists in a living world with time and weather, with both indoor and outdoor areas, and dream worlds. The outdoor areas have food resources to gather and indoors areas have socializing spaces, with both of them serving as soothing, calm spaces. Dream worlds are more fantastical worlds made up in the Kemona's mind, and can be accessed by suspicious smelling teas in the forest.

The world clock ticks with a 8:1 minute ratio to real life. The weather changes through-out their day, as do the schedules of the characters. You can check where the various game characters are currently in the world by interacting with the paper on the campus tree. This paper can also tell you what players are online, and it even works when playing offline!

The campus is the first place you appear at, with a large tree in the center. The tree has a shirt that lets you enter clothing customization wardrobe. The campus also have stones in a circle around the tree, which lets you start lessons. Lessons are longer introductions to the game, featuring either timed gameplay, character storytelling or cinematic cutscenes.

Foodraise & Tokens

The main gameplay is the foodraise, a weekly collection of gathered food from Monday morning (08.00 GMT) to Friday evening (20.00 GMT). It follows the purpose of the campus, which in the story is a food farming collective. The food is handed in at the food bins, next to the kitchen, and by contributing enough food, you gain tokens and other rewards.

Based on your foodraise contribution progress, you could get some rewards! Next to the food bins is a paper slip with your progress. For the most part, you will receive tokens that you can later exchange to other items, but non-token rewards could also be available.

Foodraise rewards Foodraise rewards
  • If you play online, a personal contribution percentage is calculated to a common goal.
Every 100%, 200% and 400% percentage will give you a token.
  • If you play offline, every 100, 200, and 400 amount of food you hand in will give you a token.
These token reward systems can be done together.
  • With a 100% personal contribution, you get to wear casual clothes online and also the ability to get a dorm room.
  • Merka can give you special rewards with the amount depending on your percentage.

Tokens are little wooden 'coins' you receive in return for your hard work. The tokens can then be exchanged for new accessories, decorations, and even furniture (assuming you've gotten a dorm room as well). To see the token exchangable items, go to the Planner, and open "Token catalog". If you have exchanged tokens for an item, you would find it in the Pack.

The campus teachers also likes tokens. You can exchange tokens to get more unique items related to creative tools: Onrakh offers inks and soap used for drawing and writing, Ikt offers books used for writing, and Retakatekt offers instruments for playing music. Keep in mind that if they do not offer these options, you have to progress on the story.

Creative tools

Creative endeavors are what decorates the world with more of your taste! Writing books, drawing graffiti, composing little melodies and acting with other characters, all of these are possible to enjoy offline or online. If you are more comfortable in solitude, go offline, and decorate the world for yourself and all of your characters will be able to see it too.

If you want to be creative with others instead, try going online! By nature of the game design, the community there tends to be relaxed, laid back, and curious to newcomers and their creations. Many of these also have suitable online 'club' events led by a event leader, which may be scheduled to happen in the future. You can see upcoming events in the eventpad found in the planner.

Creative tools Creative tools
  • To draw doodles on walls and floors, you can find paint buckets to pick up in the art room, in the school building and to the right. Drawing requires ink, and you can exchange your tokens with Onrakh for plenty ink and soap. Ink is for drawing, and soap is to remove sprays. There's sometimes even art club meetups!
  • To write books, you can exchange tokens for empty books from Ikt after the second lesson. Double click them in your inventory and start writing! If you are online, you can then submit them to the bookcases found in the library. Submitting books themselves requires ink, too, which you can get from Onrakh. Take some time to read some of the player-written classics, such as the Legend of Punkin. And sure enough, we have book club events as well!
  • To compose or play melodies, you can pick up some temporary instruments in the art room or get a personal instrument from Retakatekt. You need a hefty amount of tokens, but in exchange, they are forever in your inventory. Each instrument lets you compose little melodies that can even be edited and played together with others. You can even connect a Midi input device so you can play them live! And, you wouldn't believe, but sometimes, there might be music club meetups too!

And if you want to just fool around and chit-chat, you don't even need to get anything. A stage is offered in the art room, so if you want, call for a crowd or wait for an event and get on stage. Or if you want to be up close and personal, don't be afraid to interact!

Customizing & Expressions

Expressing and customizing your character is one of the core features to make yourself feel comfortable with your digital self. The main mode of communication is chatting and text-to-speech, but a lot of non-verbal ways to participate is also possible, such as character expressions, clothing and items.

Best of all, most of the customization is available for free, but if that's not enough, you can purchase some extra, special accessories in the Kemze E-shop and help me continue develop this game. The unlocked items are then still accessible in offline mode.

Chatting Chatting

Chat messages

  • A normal message is always talked by your character.
  • A message starting with ! is displayed as an emote without being spoken (for example: "* Player meows.").
  • A message starting with ? turns in to an animated thought bubble (for example: "Player suspects...").
  • An emote starting with a sound effect will produce that sound effect (for example: "!meows" results in your character making a meow). Type ! and press TAB to get a list of sound effect words.
